I know absolutely nothing about wine. There. I said it.
But I do know what I like – and I like this one.
I bought this Mussel Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough at the little convenience store around the corner, near Maybank in Selayang. I like the people there, and by now I know exactly where this bottle is sitting on the shelf.
Under RM60, no expedition to a specialist wine shop required, and no need to pretend I know what I'm talking about.
We had it properly chilled with pasta, prawns and greens. And for me, it worked. Fresh, easy to drink and crisp enough to go nicely with the prawns without taking over the food.
Could I tell you whether I'm tasting gooseberries, passion fruit, freshly cut grass or the morning mist rolling across a New Zealand vineyard? No.
Did I enjoy it? Absolutely.
Would I buy another bottle?
Yes. And more importantly, I know exactly which shelf it's on.
